Common Composite Damage We Repair

Impact Damage

From dropped tools to runway debris, we repair delamination and fiber damage caused by impacts (BVID).

Delamination

We identify and repair separation between composite plies using resin injection or bonded patch techniques.

Heat Damage

For components exposed to excessive temperatures, we assess matrix damage and perform necessary repairs.

Abrasions & Wear

We refurbish surfaces and structurally worn areas to restore aerodynamic performance and integrity.

Our Five-Step Repair Process

01

Initial Assessment & NDI

We conduct a thorough visual and non-destructive inspection (ultrasonics) to map the full extent of the damage.

02

Repair Design & Substantiation

Our engineers design a repair scheme (e.g., scarf angle, patch size, material) and can provide analysis to show it meets strength requirements.

03

Damage Removal & Surface Prep

The damaged material is carefully removed, and the area is prepped (abraded, cleaned) for bonding.

04

Bonded Repair & Curing

A precisely cut composite patch is applied with film adhesive and cured under controlled heat and pressure.

05

Post-Repair Inspection & Finishing

The repaired area is inspected again via NDI to ensure a quality bond, then finished to match the original surface.

Core Capability: Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI)

Non-destructive inspection is critical because most composite damage is not visible on the surface. Our advanced NDI capabilities allow us to precisely map damage, ensuring a comprehensive and effective repair strategy.

  • Ultrasonic A-Scan: Detailed subsurface flaw detection.
  • Ultrasonic C-Scan (immersion or portable): Comprehensive volumetric damage mapping.
  • Tap Testing: Quick, effective for identifying delaminations and disbonds.

Our technicians are certified to industry standards, including ASNT Level II, guaranteeing the highest quality inspections. Through precise data, we restore and substantiate the integrity of your critical assets.
